JANUARY 2021 ARTISTE OF THE MONTH – ADAM BRAND

Multi-award winning country music artist Adam Brand has been frequenting the studio over the last month, since moving back home to WA. Adam has been friends with our very own Director, Patrick Carre, for over 30 years, with this giving them the perfect opportunity to reconnect and collaborate on new projects. We wanted to take the opportunity to feature Adam as our first Artiste of the Month for 2021!

Multi-award winning country music artist Adam Brand has been frequenting the studio over the last month, since moving back home to WA earlier this year in the midst of COVID-19. Adam has been friends with our very own Founder and Director, Patrick Carre, for over 30 years, with this giving them the perfect opportunity to reconnect and collaborate on new projects. Currently living in his motor home outside of the city, Adam has spent the year travelling around WA and spending quality time with his partner, Nui and his baby daughter, Pepper. The downtime from touring and playing gigs has given him plenty of time to relax, reflect and focus on writing music.

Adam’s stellar career has seen him earn six ARIA nominations, nine APRA Award nominations and win twelve Golden Guitar awards (not to mention his latest 2020 Golden Guitar nomination). He has won 11 out of 12 Country Music Channel (CMC) Awards of which he’s been nominated, recorded and released 14 studio albums and has sold over half a million CDs and DVDs; going platinum three times and gold five times. Other career milestones include being signed to the Nashville-based division of Sony Music Entertainment in 2009 for distribution of his music in the USA and supporting Taylor Swift in 2011 after the release of his You’re a Revhead compilation album. From then until now, Adam has consistently released high charting quality albums, has started a beautiful family, and has contributed to many worthy causes, such as the Buy-a-Bale program in 2018 in support of Australian farmers suffering from drought.

Adam’s adventure this year around WA has certainly been a huge contrast to 2019, having competed last year on Channel 10’s live hit TV show, The Masked Singer. Disguised as The Dragon, he made his big reveal after much speculation around his identity; successfully being recognised by Dannii Minogue. Speaking about the show, Adam said that he couldn’t pass up the opportunity of appearing on the show, knowing that he’d be able to share the experience with Pepper when she is old enough to watch. This certainly wasn’t Adam’s live TV debut, having made many TV and radio appearances over the years, including on Dancing With The Stars, The Great Outdoors, Farmer Wants A Wife and GOLD FM.

When Adam first joined Patrick in the studio in late October, their intention was to record Adam’s brand new song, Old School, which he is planning to release on vinyl. The sentimental song was written by Adam as a reflection of his past. This couldn’t have been a more fitting project to reconnect and work on with his old friend. Adam was inspired to write the song by the people he met during his time in Cue, a gold-mining town which he visited earlier in the year. The recording of this song has led to the pair hanging out in-studio and working on multiple other projects together with our recording and mixing pro, Simon Groves. Adam even gave a shout out to Pat and Simon when discussing his latest recording escapades on Studio 10. You can watch the video here.
